Personalities

Glen Heavenor BDS
Dental Surgeon

GDC reg 48932

Glen Heavenor joined the practice in 1975 following graduation from the University of Glasgow. In the course of the next few years he developed his interests in crown and bridgework and preventive dentistry. He gains particular satisfaction from treating patients who have lost many teeth but have retained sufficient to support full mouth reconstruction with bridges without the need to wear a denture.

In addition his interest in the clarinet led to development contacts with many of the city's professional wind players whose specific dental needs have remained a keen interest.

Studying toothbrush use among his patients led Glen to patent an invention for providing a new means of holding and manipulating objects. This ergonomic handle is called Rotilt and has been licensed to Mothercare for stroller handles, to the Danish company Scanpan for cookware and to Albyn for hairbrushes. A permanent display of Rotilt products and prototypes is featured in Glasgow Science Centre as part of the "MacRobert's - Spirit of Innovation" exhibition.www.rotilt.com

Elizabeth Glass BDS
Dental Surgeon

GDC reg 61099

Elizabeth Glass is the dentist who hates dentists. She has more treatments, crowns and deep fillings than she cares to remember, so knows exactly how you feel when you nervously sit down in THAT chair.

Elizabeth graduated in 1986 and has worked in the practice since then. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry from basic care to advanced techniques and gets particular satisfaction helping apprehensive patients overcome their fear of dental treatment.

Elizabeth has a very conservative approach to dental care and relishes the challenge of trying to save every tooth, usually successfully.

Regularly attending the latest courses, Elizabeth keeps up to date with the latest cosmetic techniques. Hence she has a special interest in crown and bridgework and the latest adhesive restorations which enable less healthy teeth to be drilled away.

Elizabeth has completed year one of the Faculty of Homeopathy's four year course - gaining the Primary Health Care Certificate in Basic Homeopathy for dentists.

She has a holistic approach to all health care which blends with her overall approach to caring for her patients, not just their mouths.

As an elected member of Glasgow Local Dental Committee, Elizabeth keeps up to date with current affairs in dentistry as a profession. She contributes enthusiastically to the monthly meeting and aims to improve the service provided to both dentists and their patients by local and national authorities.

Elizabeth is married to a dentist and lives in the West End of Glasgow. They have three wee boys and one wee dog.

She is learning Spanish in her spare time and loves all things related to Spain especially holidays there.

What you may not like about seeing Elizabeth Glass - she has an odd little habit of playing "New Country" music while she fills your teeth, constantly insisting "You'll love this one" but you probably won't.
